WHAT WE BELIEVE

Within our congregations, you will find a diversity of beliefs!

We are a Community of Faith within the United Church of Canada. In the United Church of Canada, the bible is the shared standard for our faith - the thing that we all have in common.

Over the decades, the United Church of Canada has elaborated on our beliefs in different ways, and using langage that is appropriate for the time in which they are written - four of these statements of faith have been officially accepted as our "doctrine" or teachings.  These statements of faith are (and you can click on the links to read them):

Twenty Articles of Doctrine (1925)

A Statement of Faith (1940)

A New Creed (1969)

A Song of Faith (2006)

Ministers in the United Church of Canada must be in "essential agreement" with these statements of faith, however members of the United Church of Canada are not required to adhere to any particular creed or beliefs.
